Peace Lutheran Preschool
Peace Lutheran Preschool -- Your Community PDF Print E-mail

Our families tell us that, in addition to a preschool, they are looking for a community. This year, Peace Lutheran Preschool will continue efforts to grow connections among our families for sources of advice, assistance, friendship, and support.

If you haven’t checked out our Peace Lutheran Preschool Facebook page, you should. Assistant Director Jessica Newberry posts pictures almost every day of what is happening in our school – sometimes while we’re in the middle of the activity.

There’s also a Facebook page called Peace Lutheran Preschool Community, which is not an official site of the preschool, but which we support as a way for our families to communicate with one another. Here’s the page’s description: “This group has been created for families of Peace Lutheran Preschool in Peoria, AZ. The purpose of the group is to share information, ask questions and to support each other as we all work together in raising preschool children.”

We also keep our Peace Lutheran Preschool website updated, and it’s a good source of information about our program, staff, calendar, and upcoming events.

We have an active Parent Volunteer Team that helps plan school events and serves as another way for parents to connect with each other. It’s an open, dynamic group that is always seeking family participation. Even if parents can’t make it to the monthly meetings, the volunteer team will give plenty of opportunities to get involved! Meetings are scheduled for the first Friday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the Preschool.

Some of our events during the year are designed for families to get acquainted. One of our first “Get Acquainted Events” is our Family Picnic/Preschool Open House. Our families meet in the church fellowship hall for an informal meal and then tour our classrooms with their children. It is a great way for our families to meet each other.

With the help of our Volunteer Team, we plan events throughout the year to benefit other groups. We want to teach our children the joy of helping others. It also ends up being a fun way for all of us to work together. We will have a Trike-A-Thon to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in March. We also sponsor a clothing drive for Big Brothers-Big Sisters.

We also have monthly restaurant nights – usually the last Monday of the month – where many of us drop in for supper and a percentage of the proceeds go to Peace Lutheran Preschool.

We'd love to have you join our community.

What Families Say About Us PDF Print E-mail

When my 2.5 yr old daughter started, she was having a hard time. The staff/teachers were so patient and comforting to her and myself and she soon ended up doing well. I couldn't praise the staff and teachers enough for all they do for these kids. They genuinely care for the kids and it has made a big impact on my daughter. She LOVES Ms. Linda and tells me all about what she sang and learned. She looks forward to going to school every day.

My kids have attended here the last 3 years. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is fun and encouraging. It's a wonderful place to start your children's education.

Excellent education, small classrooms, loving teachers who are great at meeting the children where they are. Family environment and very competitive pricing!! My son loves it there and started when he turned 2. A variety of activities for the children to improve their fine and gross motor skills and social skills. Secure environment where I felt very comfortable leaving my child for the morning. I love it here and am excited to enroll my daughter next year!

My child has attended Peace Preschool for 2 years now, in the 2 year old program & 3 year old program, and will be starting a third year in the Pre-K classroom. We have loved Peace so much that my 2nd child is enrolled for the 2 year old class in the Fall also. The education is great and all staff members have been fabulous. I have been part of the Parent/ Teacher team this year and I know personally how hard the Director and Assistant Director are working to keep this a compassionate, kind, loving school for preschoolers. Small class sizes, fabulous teachers and aides. My child has grown so much over the past two years and has been exposed to some good Christian Values. We couldn't be happier... We have shared this preschool with our mom's group and have had 3 other families have enrolled their kids. Take a tour today and see for yourself what a great place this is for your child.

This is my daughter's second year at Peace and my son will be starting in a few weeks. We love it! The faculty and staff are great and kind. It feels like what a preschool should be.

About Core Knowledge PDF Print E-mail

The teachers at Peace Lutheran Preschool use the highly regarded, research-based Core Knowledge Preschool Curriculum. Core Knowledge Philosophy

The Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence is distinguished by its specificity. It identifies those experiences, skills and knowledge that should be offered to all young children. Specificity is necessary as there is no evidence or guarantee that, in the course of early development, all children naturally and automatically acquire the specific knowledge and skills that provide the necessary foundation for future learning.

True, given certain minimal experiences, children naturally acquire certain rudimentary skills and knowledge. For example, barring exceptional physiological or environmental conditions, all children learn to talk. However, this initial capacity for language does not automatically, in and of itself, evolve into more sophisticated language. Acquisition of a diverse vocabulary, competence in understanding and using complex grammatical structures, as well as the ability to use language symbolically, depend heavily upon the opportunity to engage in particular language experiences.

Likewise, very young children naturally acquire certain basic math concepts, recognizing, for example, quantitative differences between groups of up to four objects. However, once again, this initial natural learning does not, on its own, evolve into more advanced competencies—for example, distinguishing and counting quantities greater than four, representing the quantities with specific number words (“four”) and symbols (“4”), and so on.

ELEA accreditation signifies that we have met the association’s high standards for early childhood education programs. What does this mean?

  • It means that we are an early childhood education center that continually takes a hard, honest look at our strengths and our need for improvement. We’re always trying to get better.
  • It means that our teachers, aides and administrators are being measured by outside experts against high professional standards.
  • It represents a significant stamp of approval from a group that specializes in Christ-centered early childhood education.

At the heart of everything we do is our mission to partner with parents in growing disciples for Jesus, and to live out Christ’s love in all we do with children.

About Peace Lutheran Preschool PDF Print E-mail

We believe that all children are gifts from God, and that they have been entrusted by Him to us for faith formation and instruction of necessary skills for kindergarten readiness.   We offer a loving safe Christian environment for guiding your children.

We foster respect and appreciation for the uniqueness of each child.  We know that all children and adults have a valuable place in our multicultural society and feel it is important that we interact with and learn about each other by being respectful of our individual differences.

Through our various work and play activities that include prayer time, chapel time, stories, and music, we share the good news of Christ’s love with your children to help them learn Christian values.

We believe it is important to nurture the whole child, thus we have a stimulating learning environment with activities that address spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical aspects of each child.

We believe that children are always ready to learn.  Our children are prepared for kindergarten by a staff of Christian teachers who utilize the Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence.  “The Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence is a set of model guidelines describing fundamental competencies and specific knowledge that, for children from three to five years of age, can provide a solid, coherent foundation for later learning in kindergarten and beyond.”  Its’ purpose is to provide the necessary stepping stones children need to achieve individual developmental goals.  We are sensitive to the fact that each child has particular abilities and a certain level of competency in various areas.  We provide work and play activities and exciting experiences that will be building blocks for advancing his or her understanding and skills.  Assessment of our children is an ongoing process and is conducted often during our daily activities.

We highly value the parents of our students and consider you to be the most important part of your child’s teaching team. We look forward to meeting you!

“ With Christ as our center, the Peace Lutheran community will partner with parents to share Christ’s love and grow disciples for Jesus.”
