Feed My Starving ChildrenPeace Lutheran Church and Community of Grace Lutheran Church sponsored a food  packing event at Peace on February 19-21, 2009.  Teaming with Grace, Desert Cross Lutheran, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and our many volunteers, we collected over $38,250 in contributions.  In addition, we packed 225,000 meals for starving children around the world–enough to feed 616 children for an entire year!   Feed My Starving Children  is a Christian nonprofit hunger relief organization founded in 1987.

November 17-21 2009 we joined with other churches to pack 1 million meals!

Now, we continue to support Feed My Starving Children through packing at the Temporary Packing Site in Tempe.  For more information on dates Peace is serving, please contact the church office.

Habitat For Humanity PDF Print E-mail

Did you know that Peace Lutheran Church has partnered with five other Lutheran Churches in the west valley to form a Habitat for Humanity Lutheran Coalition? The goal of the member churches in the Lutheran Coalition is to join efforts in fundraising and then in constructing Habitat for Humanity homes.

The Lutheran Coalition and corporate volunteers were able to to build not one, but two houses in 52 days! Dedication for the Miburo and Aguer families will took place Saturday, January 10, 2009 at their residences on Cherry Hill Drive in Peoria.

Thrivent awarded a 2008 grant to the Lutheran Coalition for this construction. Peace had made a commitment to Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to send volunteers from Peace to the two job sites on a number of Saturdays. Crews work from 6:30 am to 12:30 pm August through September and 7:30 am to 1:30 pm October through December. NO experience was needed - only a willingness to help others.

Please look for the Habitat for Humanity table on the patio between services to sign up for work crews or contact Chris and Mark with your questions by email or phone at 623-561-1036.
